SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Support
Hillcroft Primary School is an inclusive school which focuses on the wellbeing and progress of all children. We make every effort to narrow the gap between vulnerable learners and their peers by engaging in a range of strategies that issue challenge at an appropriate level, and provide support to overcome barriers to learning. All teachers are teachers of SEND and with this in mind, children with special educational needs are catered for within their own class.
Where it is deemed appropriate and useful, children may be withdrawn for short periods to work with an adult, individually or in a small group. We have children with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities and work hard to support our pupils with needs that are additional to or different from their peers.
We make every effort to narrow the gap between vulnerable learners and their peers by engaging in a range of strategies that issue challenges at an appropriate level, and provide support to overcome barriers to learning. This includes working closely with parents and carers to ensure that a broad understanding of children's needs is fully understood and supported.
We fully comply with the requirements outlined in the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (2015).
At Hillcroft we recognise that the quality of teaching within the classroom has the greatest influence over children’s progress. We therefore invest in training, resources and monitoring to ensure our classrooms are an inclusive place for all children.
